I was lucky to have found Seed to Stage at the beginning of my Ableton learning journey. After I spent a few weeks piecing together a workflow from various sources, my productivity and understanding grew so much once I found this thorough source of education. These courses, which are backed by the support of an amazing community, are the most complete and well structured that I have found. It has been worth the investment, to be able to dig as deep as you want into all that Ableton Live has to offer, and the Seed to Stage community has become an essential source of support and inspiration for me.
It's far more than a handful of courses! The world of Seed to Stage is vast, covering not only lessons on core fundamentals, but also offering incredible community support, networking and collaboration in the Discord server. Anthony's teaching approach gave me a sense of autonomy, creativity and confidence in my music making -- instead of the typical dogmatic approach of blindly following tutorials step-by-step. His teaching focuses on the "how" and "why", so that you are actually learning and becoming empowered.
Lastly, it's Anthony's commitment to music and teaching that is worth emphasizing. There are so many music production teachers that bloat their courses with unhelpful information, just so they can have a longer running time and make a few bucks. With Seed to Stage, Anthony has countless times added more hours of content on courses we'd already paid for. He didn't try to sell these as whole new Version2 type of courses. He also gives preset packs away for free quite often. Anthony demonstrates that he has the priority to educate with quality comprehensive courses, above and beyond making profit.
Seed to Stage is the best arrangement of lessons on audio production I've ever found, and has an incredibly supportive good vibe community. Highly recommended!!
I recommend this course because the instructors approach soars far and above in effectiveness and depth while leaving no one behind in the understanding of the most comprehensive organization of absolutely everything there is to know of using Live. It has excellent categorization, from the courses themselves (you pick what is important for you to learn first).
Songwriting course introduces you to the essentials of how to effectively translate your ideas and creativity into the software and expanding to all kinds of valuable in depth knowledge of the devices you use along the way to treat ideas according to what you want to do with them. Then, for those who want to release their music with the edge of experience in getting it to sound right upon reproduction from any system out there, you want the Mixing and mastering course.
The Synthesis and Sound Design course takes you in depth of how to create your own sounds and instruments to truly have expressive freedom within the powerful built in devices of the software. The Performance course has opened my mind up to the possibilities that exist in Live for endless ways to envision executing a live performance, and since live looping is an important part of that for me, its been essential to learn all sorts of tricks for syncing loops and parts and progressing through songs, sometimes with my control over when and to what part I process by use of a foot controller.
In short, if you are looking for the quickest way to get the learning out of the way and have the absolute time of your life creating music, feel the stoke and jump right in, you've found the right place. I would challenge one to try a single course, betting that over time the value will be clear and indeed draw you back for another. It speaks for itself, and comes with an unbeatable package of joining a private community of producers all learning from the course, and the chance to collab, share weird sounds, post your releases, and get incredibly helpful and kind feedback in order to get second insight once you've burnt out on something or pushed it as far as you can.
That's the best part, everyone is nice!
I’ve been learning electronic music production for a bit over two years now. It’s a steep learning curve at first, and Seed to Stage helped push me up that hill.
At first I ranged around on Youtube, like most of us do, and I learned a lot that way. But I came to a point where I was using as much time trying to figure out what counted as good lessons as I was learning from those lessons. It is really hard to sift through the difference between kinda helpful and REALLY helpful, between fine advice and GOOD advice, between generic explanations and DETAILED explanations, between an isolated bit of information and a CONTEXTUALIZED skill.
I wanted something that I knew I could trust, and that would give me the big picture along with the small details. This is what Seed to Stage really provided for me. Something that would focus on helping me develop my skills and knowledge in a coherent way, so that I wouldn’t have to continuously cobble together information from scattered sources and sort through the crud while I was at it.
Having a large set of knowledge you can trust, presented with a great sense of organization and a focus on skill-building is truly valuable. It may feel like “Why should I spend money on this information when I can get it for free?” I thought that too. The answer, if you want one, is simply: “Because it is better." It helps you learn in a coherent and focused way, it helps you keep on track, it helps you develop your skills with direction. Oh, and last but not least – the discord community is great, and provides a forum where you can learn with peers and build some fun online community in a way that is rather rare.
It's worth it.
My experience: Having taken many other online "music schools" or classes, Seed to Stage definitely gives you the most for your money for sure. What it lacks in "live content" such as labs, live streams, or lessons, is completely blown away by how good the Pre-Recorded material is. The way each topic is taught, the fact it's all in an easy to understand and digest order, and fact its only a one time fee for each course makes it WAY MORE valuable in my opinion.
The other online courses or schools offer a lot of the same stuff, but I have not found one that teaches the material anywhere near as well as Anthony at Seed To Stage. Not to mention you have to pay monthly for a lot of those other music communities, and you spend a lot more for a lot less.
Pros: All the video material is VERY HIGH QUALITY, everything is taught in an order that makes perfect sense and really makes sure you understand it, the videos are straight to the point and not overly long but also not lacking anything, the discord community IS SO HELPFUL (not to mention Anthony is just as active as all the regular members!), the community of people is also probably the nicest and most enjoyable to talk to.
Cons: No live labs or lessons of any sort included like some of the monthly paid online music communities and it's 90% ableton based (would be cool to cover more stuff like the pigments course available). Those are about the only two things, and even then those two cons are not even a big deal
Overall: I wish I found these courses when I started a few years ago. I'd be a hell of a lot further than I am now and I honestly feel bad about wasting money in other places like I have
I’ve been looking for in depth Ableton focused courses for a while, and I can happily say these were what I was looking for.
There is so much to learn from each course, which has shown me how powerful Ableton is.
Also being able to apply it to real life projects has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve started mixing my bands live sets!
I feel the Seed To Stage courses give me all the information I need to take my music from a beginner level to intermediate/advanced. Every lesson so far provides a refresher on basics before diving into more advanced techniques and concepts. Anthony has an effective teaching style and a knack for explaining complex topics in an easily digestible manner. Expensive, but worth every penny.
Phenomenal Material ! Anthony has put ‘many a detail that might be of interest’ in these courses. You can rewatch them at your own pace and get inspired to make your musical expressions come to ‘live’!
His friendly teaching style and passion for ableton’s abilities sure is contagious ! Also knowing that he successfully performs on stage with ableton ‘live’ incorporated and has ‘Mixed’ and ‘Mastered’ for other musicians for many years now, makes… that he teaches from experience. Which makes all the difference !
Seed to Stage (S2S) offer a really nice range of courses covering all the basics which quickly take you to an advanced level. The amount of care and attention to detail in creating the course content is evident as soon as you start. I was looking for a course to improve my production skills and having stumbled across many S2S videos on YouTube they seemed like a good choice, and far more affordable than many of the more well-known courses. I opted for the 'Mixing and Mastering with Ableton' and the 'Song writing and Composition' courses. I have been using various DAWS for over 20 years so thought I was fairly knowledgeable on the various functions, but doing this course has shown me how many little things you miss when you are self-taught by YouTube. The community aspect of the courses is also really nice and people are really generous with their feedback and help.
What can I say about Anthony Thogmartin and his Seed to Stage (S2S) courses..
So many things, but mainly, community. Because from the get go, he had set up a Discord community for us all to join. From this combined with the great courses, he has released to date, of which I have taken three and a bit so far, we were able to immediately realize how great it is to share, give feedback, 14 day challenge one another, and even collaborate. And all of it at your own pace. You could join certain Discord tasks or you could just listen to peoples entries in the feedback thread, or fiery releases, without the pressure of having to comment, especially if you are a newbie and just want to get yourself comfortable at your own pace.
As for his instructional videos, I have been collecting and watching videos for years now, and he is one of, if not thee best instructor for Ableton courses and music production/creation. My hats off to him and community that he has created! I love it so much.
Everything I will ever need education wise. I bought the 3 course bundle of composition, mixing/mastering, and sound design about a year ago, and the amount of progress I've made since has been amazing looking back. Anthony is an incredible teacher and I always feel great about what I learned at the end of each lesson.
I was contemplating doing some in person courses near me before I enrolled in the seed to stage courses, and I'm sure those are great in some ways but I love that I can go back and watch any lesson over and over until i really understand it. Even if I completely understand something in the moment, I generally don't retain all the important details of the million different aspects that go into music production/ableton.
Best course I have taken (and I have taken a few) on Ableton Live and music production in general. Seed to Stage has been filling in the gaps in my knowledge and skill set that years of trial and error have been missing. I have been feeling stuck on a plateau with my ability to produce the music in my head, and I have felt a renewed inspiration and excitement for doing something I love on a higher level. Anthony’s high level yet down-to-earth approach to concepts delivered with the professional production of the content is super enjoyable to watch and listen to. The pacing is on point. The content is richly packed. The aesthetic is clean and no b.s. and the discord community is invaluable. I can’t wait to start the next course with STS!

Having completed most of the songwriting and composition course, I am blown away by the depth of this course. Not only does it provide an extensive and thorough understanding of Ableton, but also includes music theory and numerous other musical concepts akin to a classical music training. Anthony does a great job breaking the concepts down to digestible pieces in order to ensure that all students have no trouble staying on board. Cannot recommend enough!
For a while I was hesitating with purchase of Seed To Stage courses. Now, few months after I bought 2 of them I know that it was a mistake to hesitate.
Ok, the truth is that these courses are not the cheapest ones, BUT for me, they are the BEST ones out there. Really in-depth, structured very well, absolutely professional content along with Anthony's great voice :D, humor are the best way for me to learn what I was always dreaming of.
I bought the Live Performance and Pigments course and I really enjoyed both! They are very thorough and the information is presented in an engaging way so it doesn't get boring. I was hesitant to buy the Pigments course since I already know synthesis very well, but I don't regret it because not only did I learn some new things about this synth, but I also got to see how another producer uses the synth in ways that I might never have thought of.
I’ve been following Anthony (Seed To Stage’s master) since 2014. I had learned tons of relevant things that have improved my producer skills and my live performances. The way he communicates knowledge is just awesome. I highly recommend the live looping course if you want to squeeze the best out of Ableton Live to improve your shows. It is a 5 star course for sure!
Best in depth Ableton courses out there! No doubt. Anthony really is an amazing teacher. He has a way of teaching that makes things much less complicated than they seem to be. The lessons are musical, scientific and so motivating. Also, because Anthony has such a diversed musical background, I think the lessons are suited for all types of musicians (Instrumentalists, electronic producers, DJs, etc.). The courses will help you own your craft and unlock your creative potential using Ableton. Go get them all! You won't regret this!
The information I get is legit, and the instructor covers everything I’ll need to know about my craft. The lessons are concise and well thought out so I can learn most proficiently.
Anthony has such a laidback yet very informative teaching style. No matter what video I watch, I always take away at least one new technique or method to try out.
If you want to learn Ableton Live, you've reached your place of zen.
I'm an old timer, getting into Ableton Live to complement my guitar playing. These courses are so useful because the audio and video quality is very professional, the lessons are clear and have a well-defined purpose, and everything is demonstrated in a musical context, so I've been enjoying learning because every lesson I complete gives me something new I can use.

I personally bought the Mixing and Mastering course and I WOULD RECOMMEND IT A HUNDRED TIMES to everyone reading this. If you are serious about making music at a professional level, buckle in, buy the Mixing and Mastering course, watch a video every couple of days, try to implement what you’ve learned in fun projects, and you will be astonished at how much better your mixes will be sounding. P.S. If I could request one thing, I’d pay good money for a Seed to Stage nerd course, where Anthony goes in depth about the behind the scenes of effects.
I bought the Live Performance and the Pigments course. They are both very thorough and go into great detail, covering basically anything you need to know. The information is also well presented, and the videos don't get boring.
I have been taking the Live Performance & Live Looping with Ableton Live, I am not as active as I want to be in taking this course, but so far I am really pleased with the content and Anthony makes the concepts easy to understand. I would recommend the Seed To Stage courses to anyone who desires to get a handle on and up their game with Live. I am considering the other courses seed to stage offers.
